It used to be so much easier to advertise specials in all these communities before they all became moderated.

I realize I haven't been on LJ in a while, but it feels like the spam's gotten a lot worse if all these groups have had to resort to this level of moderation...

We had a veritable PLAGUE of russian spammers using hacked accounts to post payload bearing links all over the place. Hence most of the groups going moderated...meaning that a mod just has to look at posts with actual links in them, and one click okay them.

Have a chat with the mods of the groups...chances are if advertising stuff like that was okay before, they'll allow it again. Or, if they don't want links appearing, just type them out like you have to do half the time on the fanfic sites. (i.e. wwwdotsitenamedotcom or similar).

Sorry I missed ya'll at Dragoncon...I couldn't figure out where you were this year, what with everything moved around!

The only things that should've moved around were the Vendors -- Comics & Pop Artist's Alley was in the exact same place as last year (and so was I -- right down to my table number!)

... Serves me right for not popping in on LJ earlier, eh?

The app didn't have ya'll listed, or was possibly just being dafter than usual...I had to delete and reinstall it entirely twice during the con, having to go 3 blocks away from the network cluster bleep to do it.

Or it may have been my usual indoor vs outdoor navigation boggle. Outside is easy, indoor, well, I need a compass and map, or really excellent signage! I found Truva (up the road from the Sheraton. Turkish/mediterranean food, epic lentil soup!)again, but ended up doing full circles of the marriott three times looking for one of the ballrooms.

Well, fuck. I knew it felt like there was a lighter crowd than usual.
